How to Link Your eBay Account to Your PayPal Account
) View Listings | Report 04-01-08 19:26 GMT
If you wish to link your eBay account to your PayPal account, here's a Guide of how to do it.

You may need to link your accounts to sell some types of items prone to counterfeiting or to sell on a different eBay site to the one you are registered on.

Check to see which PayPal account your eBay account is linked to

On your My eBay page, click the 'Addresses' link on the left-hand side.

Addresses

Then click the 'View all all postal addresses' link'

View all postal addresses

Photobucket
Photobucket

Review your linked addresses to make sure they are accurate:

Photobucket

Linking an unlinked eBay account to your PayPal account

On your My eBay page, click the 'Addresses' link on the left-hand side.

Addresses

Then click the 'View all all postal addresses' link'

View all postal addresses

Then click the 'Add PayPal Addresses' button:

Photobucket

At the PayPal log in screen, enter the email address and password for the PayPal account which you wish to link your eBay account with.

If you have a Personal and a Premier PayPal account, you should link an eBay ID used for buying with to the Personal account and for a Selling ID to the Premier Account. You can use any email address associated with the PayPal account in question along with your PayPal password.

Then click 'Get PayPal Addresses'

Photobucket

Your accounts will then be linked and you will get this confirmation message from PayPal:

Photobucket

You will then see a screen similar to this in your My eBay which confirms the accounts have been linked:

Photobucket

Changing which PayPal account your eBay account is linked to

On your My eBay page, click the 'Addresses' link on the left-hand side.

Addresses

Then click the 'View all all postal addresses' link'

View all postal addresses

Then click the 'remove' hyperlink to remove the associated PayPal account:

Photobucket

Then link your eBay account to the correct PayPal account as described above.

eBay Sales - Where does the payment go to?

When you get paid via PayPal, the payment is sent to the PayPal email address you specified in the listing. That email address can be associated to any one of your PayPal accounts - it does not have to be associated to the account which is linked to your eBay selling account which you listed the item on.

These Guides explain in detail:

AJ, I still find that very confusing.

You could completely do away with everything prior to the Linking an unlinked eBay account to your PayPal account for a start, because it shows an already linked account, and this is about linking an account that isn't linked already.

I'm not absolutely sure where the emphasis on linking postal addresses is coming from?

eBay/PayPal accounts can be linked by using the same email address for both, and by adding the eBay ID to the PayPal account.

Am I missing something?

Hello Bella

Thanks for your comments.

It's in response to several recent queries on linking eBay accounts to PayPal account to either sell internationally or sell restricted items due to the counterfeiting measures.

It's not the PayPal address per se that I'm suggesting is important, just the actual link to the Verified Prem/Business PayPal account for eBay's satisfaction.

The eBay help page isn't very good.

If you add the eBay ID to the PayPal account -
Profile >
Seller Preferences >
Auctions

isn't that different to linking the account/address via the above? Doesn't that just apply PayPal functions to auctions listed on that eBay account?

I see what you mean about the first section.
I put it in in case someone had linked but not known how/why and couldn't follow the other instructions because of it.

But I'll re-look at it.

isn't that different to linking the account/address via the above?

No, it links the two accounts.

As does using the same email address. So when listing an item, using the email address for the verified PayPal account will link to that account.

That used to be all that was required when listing with IPR or (when buying) bidding on auctions with PayPal Account Required.

If people are still having problems then is could be that eBay has become stricter about what is linked, though I still don't understand why. When adding an eBay ID to a PayPal account the eBay password is required, so that should be enough.

Hi

This is a great thread and very explanatory, BUT even after I have linked and my Paypal linked account shows up as being linked in the list of addresses, I am still unable to bid on items that state "PayPal account required"

To me it means that ebay is "broken". I have already lost one item where my desired bid was £100 more than the winning bid (of course I dont know if mine would have been the highest).

Can anyone help.

Just for your information there is a fault or bug in the ebay.co.uk site - verified by ebay agent during live chat.

Linked paypal accounts are not recognised reliably in auctions where the seller makes this a requirement.

A bid placed for the same item on ebay.com works perfectly.

Thanks for that.
Sounds a good workaround.

Hey AJ.... Did you get your address wrong? Shouldn't it be Letsbe, not Lestbe?

Very useful info above thanks all of which I have done. My account says I am linked to Paypal and I am definitely verified yet I still get this message whe I am trying to sell:

You cannot submit your listing due to the following problems

Attention Seller:
Thank you for choosing to sell on eBay.
To help protect both buyers and sellers, we may ask for additional verification from sellers. You’ll be able to list this item as soon as you verify your identity through PayPal.
If you’ve already verified your PayPal account and are still receiving this message, you’ll need to link it to your eBay account.
To find out how to verify your PayPal account or link it to your eBay account, just click on the country you’re registered with:
Australia | Austria | Belgium - Dutch | Belgium - French | Canada | Canada - French | France | Germany | Hong Kong | Ireland | Italy | Malaysia | Netherlands | Philippines | Poland | Singapore | Spain | Switzerland | United Kingdom | United States
We look forward to a successful relationship with you.

I really dont understand! I used to be able to sell stuff and I totally understand about verifying who we are but I really really need to sell some stuff and at this rate it's going in Tesco's shop window lol

Hi please help. I went through all these painful processes to be able to sell something on
Ebay but,now I'm stuck at this message:

Please read. Your response is required.
As a precaution, we have limited the activity on your eBay account until we receive additional verification information from you. We sometimes need to do this to make sure that eBay remains a place where members can buy and sell with confidence.

To have this restriction lifted, you need to become PayPal Verified* and then link your verified PayPal account to your eBay account. Once you've completed this process, you'll be able to sell on any eBay site worldwide.

If you're already PayPal Verified, you just need to link your verified PayPal account to your eBay account. For instructions, please click the link below for the eBay site you're registered on.

I already have a linked Paypal account. Why this now?

) View Listings | Report 04-11-09 14:41 GMT 34 of 35
You may have a linked paypal account, but the email is asking you to verify it.

Go to your account @ Paypal and follow the links to verify - you may be asked to add a credit card that is registered at your address etc. I would advise you to ensure you complete all the requirement (there is a tick box list for you to see what things you can do for complete verification) as you will only hit problems in the future if you dont.
Good luck
