I will return as often as possible to answer questions and pass on any issues that arise. However, there may be a short delay in getting answers to some of the questions, but nothing too big
In light of eBay's recent intransigence in the face of overwhelming customer protest at the new (un)improved search facility, why even bother with the farcical pretence of canvassing your users' opinions?
One thing's for sure, it can't be quite as disastrous as the new search will be. Almost 1000 signatures against that (and almost nobody in favour, just ebay staff and possibly one or two others).
Tell you what, lets do you a deal. We'll give you good marks for the new My Ebay if you promise to go back to the old search as a reward.
Is this 'New Search' the reason why my listings have been dumped down in the listing page? Ebay says it is because I only have 4.6 for my P&P. I think that is quite good compared to some sellers, none of my postage for ladies and children's clothes is more than £3.00 unless it is a coat or shoes then the UK price is around £3.80. I am really put out at the way I have been treated, I am a good Seller, but shan't bother anymore Ebay, hope you feel good upsetting your good Sellers.
I used the new check out a few days ago. It took me a bit by supprise. I initially thought I was on a scam site. Two probs that I found were 1) that it was far too wide for my screen and 2) that there was no way to sign out from Paypal. I personally like to end a transaction for banking with a proper Paypal signout which tells you that the secure site has been left safely. It is also necessary to be able to see the whole payment page on the screen at one time without having to slide backwards and forwards to find everything you need to enter and to click. The a national banking web site I use fits all its data on my screen, so it is perfectly possible to code it to fit all screens.
Leave well alone. Just get used to something then it all gets changed. Should pay more attention to rectifying the bits that users find unfriendly, rather than just changing everything on a whim and calling it improvement.
This thread is pointless! If the old search is not re-instasted no amount of enhancements is going to make a bit of difference because no one is going to use ebay, me included.
I agree with the other replies.Why bother asking us when you will pay no attention whatsoever to anything we say. Ebay has totally lost the plot,messing about with silly little alterations whiulst its customers desert in droves due to changes that nobody other than a few ebay staff like.
"We'll look at the results carefully, and once we're happy that the new My eBay is meeting your needs, we'll invite all UK members to use the new version of My eBay."
Not that Ebay users are happy, when they are happy. Just like the new search then!!
I think I had the new checkout yesterday, I had no way to actually see where the money was coming from i.e. from Paypal direct or my bank/credit card accounts.
I've said it before and I'll say it again - this 'new' layout is absolute rubbish - get back the 'old' style - this new layout is hard to follow, half the screen display is wasted on non sensical drivel that is of no consequence. Whoever the mastermind behind this was on Ebay's behalf should be taken out into the street and flogged in fornt of all the public - it is totally CARP - dyslexic spelling - rearrange. Apologies to any dyslexic people - I am not insulting you.
I think it's about time Ebay stopped wasting money tinkering around with things that worked perfectly well in the first place and concentrated their efforts on removing fake items and protecting honest sellers. There's no point in posting these threads when we all know that no attention will be paid to our opinions. Ebay need to get a grip and support their dwindling seller base now - not pass on cries for help down the line to nowhere.
Is Ebay going to take any notice of responses on this thread? If not, why post it? And if you are, why can't you take notice of and act on people's views on New Search?
Yet one more problem with the new system- you can't see when you shipped something- I post out roughly 600-800 items a month and if a buyer asked when their item was posted I could look it up in their order details -no longer the case!!! Powerseller support can't help.Perhaps they would like to try looking through pages and pages of a Recorded Delivery book to find the details. Also I don't 'want' to pay all my sellers at once!!! but have to click every time to change this - why can't you save this option? AND I don't like not being able to log out of Paypal - we are all being told to make sure we log out of sites to stop online fraud - this is helping hackers who monitor keystrokes.

#14: This wasn't really a whim as I'm sure you remember the checkout was changed earlier this year. In response to issues members experienced with PayPal notes we pulled it back.

That's me laughing my head of at the thought that eBay give a fig about what any member thinks of its changes and the even more absurd thought that they think the average user will believe they do
Apple: As part of my job I pass on feedback from members on a daily basis. The boards are a great resource for interacting with the Community. And before everyone starts crying that we never listen, ultimately just because people want something for the site, doesn't mean we can implement it or that it would be a good move. We make decisions based on a lot of factors, community input is one but not the only one. As for search.. see above

Is it right that the new checkout doesn't show you where the money is actually coming from? i.e. Direct from Paypal or from your credit card/bank account.
